    Pride 2022 Solidarity Statement

The UP School of Statistics reaffirms its commitment with the LGBTQIA+ family in championing gender equality, in reclaiming their empowerment, and in fostering safe and inclusive spaces for all—may it be academic or beyond.

As we celebrate pride, may we also continue to assert their rights and to shape a community where everyone is respected and can live without fear of discrimination, violence, and stigma, regardless of their SOGIESC (sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics). The School, through its faculty, staff, and students, continues to express its support and participation in activities that promote genuine equality. To list some, we carry on with establishing the UP Rainbow Research Hub which aims to create open educational resources related to LGBTQI research. We also plan on hosting a webinar or online space where insights and experience on doing LGBTQI research are shared and discussed among students and researchers. We continue to promote awareness and visibility as well by proactively supporting campaigns and events inside the university and even in the larger community.

In our present society where inequalities remain and uncertainty looms over, one thing is certain—all of us shall be vigilant and shall unwaveringly fight for our bright and colorful tomorrow. Happy Pride, everyone!
