Last October 16, the 18th National Student-Faculty Conference on the Statistical Sciences was held in UP Los Baños with delegates coming from various universities and colleges nationwide. With the goal of propelling Ambisyon Natin 2040 through responsible and proper use of Statistics, the conference became an avenue to present wide-ranging applications of the field toward social progress and development.
Prior to the conference, several delegates presented their papers to a panel of judges of which outstanding papers are to be awarded during the conference proper. With this, Isabelle Benabaye and Patricia Rose Donato, graduates of the UP School of Statistics, clinched the First Place with their paper entitled “Understanding Micro-level Factors Influencing the Ideal Number of Children and Contraceptive Intention and Practice of Filipino Women: A Call for Attention on Women with Unmet Fertility Preference”. The paper studies the situation of the country and the call for action all towards policy evaluation.
